Abortion: an emocional scar

It’s been 21 years since I’ve been treating couples that passed through abortions, and I see that this number has dramatically decreased in the past 10 years, after defending my thesis around this theme. Abortion may happen only once, or repeatedly.

Each loss is a scar, because of all the unfulfilled dreams. When a woman tests positive for pregnancy, many expectations arise. So when abortion strikes, it takes with it the future that the couple and their family and friends were hoping and preparing for.

When it happens, it’s of utmost importance that we let our patients freely throw their hearts on us, and then explain how that it’s possible to maximize their chances of success with medicines, technology and attention, step by step.
